Thanks to their advantages of efficient construction and flexible spans, steel-framed industrial buildings have become the preferred choice for industrial production facilities. Within these structures, the roof system serves as a critical element-safeguarding the building's integrity and ensuring the orderly flow of production operations.
I. Primary and Secondary Purlins
The primary and secondary purlins constitute the foundational framework of the roof system. As the primary load-bearing components, the main purlins are laid out along the span direction of the steel-framed building; their core function is to transmit roof loads-including the weight of roofing panels, accumulated snow, and equipment-safely and securely to the steel roof trusses. The secondary purlins are arranged perpendicular to the main purlins; they serve to distribute loads evenly, preventing deformation of the main purlins caused by concentrated stress, and provide uniform, stable support for the entire roof system, thereby ensuring that the roof surface of the steel-framed building remains consistently flat.
II. Steel Roof Trusses
The steel roof trusses form the core load-bearing system of the roof structure. Constructed from steel into a robust truss configuration, these components leverage their high-strength properties to bear the entirety of the loads transmitted by the main purlins, efficiently transferring these forces down to the vertical columns of the steel-framed building. The geometry of the steel roof trusses can be flexibly designed to suit the specific requirements of the building: triangular trusses are suitable for standard load conditions, while trapezoidal trusses are designed to accommodate scenarios involving large spans and heavy loads. Together, they establish a reliable structural framework for the building, ensuring the overall stability of the entire structure.

III. Roofing Panels
The roofing panels constitute the functional core of the roof system. Installed directly atop the purlins, these panels not only provide shelter against wind and rain for the steel-framed building but also fulfill essential functions such as thermal insulation, heat resistance, soundproofing, and noise reduction. Commonly used materials-such as color-coated steel sheets and sandwich panels-can be selected to suit diverse production environments; for instance, high-temperature workshops may require specialized heat-insulating panels, while precision manufacturing facilities may prioritize superior soundproofing capabilities. This adaptability ensures that the roof system of the steel-framed building possesses both high practical utility and long-term durability.
IV. Support Systems and Connection Nodes
The support systems and connection nodes are indispensable elements of the roof structure. The bracing system enhances the overall rigidity of the roof structure through horizontal and vertical bracing, enabling it to withstand horizontal loads such as wind forces; meanwhile, the connection nodes securely link the purlins, roof trusses, and sheeting, forming a stable and cohesive whole.
