I. Visual Quality Inspection
The surface of the steel columns must be smooth and free of defects such as cracks, slag inclusions, or blowholes. Particular attention should be paid to the surface quality of the column connection areas, as these regions often serve as stress concentration points within the steel structure. Inspection should be aided by tools such as magnifying glasses to facilitate close observation.
II. Dimensional Accuracy Verification
Steel structures impose strict requirements on component dimensions; therefore, parameters such as the length, cross-sectional dimensions, and straightness of the steel columns must strictly adhere to design specifications. Any deviation in the verticality of the steel columns must not exceed the limits permitted by relevant codes; failure to meet this requirement could compromise the overall stability of the entire steel structural system.
III. Inspection of Connection Joints
The nodes within a steel structure are critical load-bearing points; consequently, the connections between the steel columns and the foundations or steel beams must be robust and reliable. For welded connections, the quality of the weld seams must be thoroughly inspected; for bolted connections, it is essential to ensure that all bolts are tightened securely to the required torque.

IV. Anti-Corrosion and Fire Protection Treatments
Steel structures are susceptible to corrosion; therefore, the anti-corrosion coatings applied to the steel columns must be intact and uniform. For steel structures deployed in specialized environments, the thickness and coverage of fire-retardant coatings must also be verified to ensure they meet the specific protection ratings stipulated in the design requirements.
V. Verification of Material Properties
The steel utilized in steel structures must comply with all relevant industry standards. It is mandatory to verify the material certification documents accompanying the steel columns and, where deemed necessary, to conduct random sampling tests to confirm material properties.
